Australia

Japanese encephalitis: local human infections were first confirmed in March 2022 in the states of New South Wales (NSW), Victoria, Queensland and South Australia after the virus was detected in several samples from pig farms. So far, 14 infections have been confirmed in NSW, 10 in Victoria, 6 in South Australia and one each in Queensland and the Northern Territory. Two people died each in NSW and South Australia and one each in Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territory. Other suspicious cases have been reported. Warmer weather and reduced flooding in many regions is expected to increase mosquito populations and thus the risk of infection. Authorities have issued public health alerts urging people to protect themselves from mosquito bites. Travellers should take care to protect themselves against mosquitoes and talk to their doctor about the possibility of vaccination.

Germany

El Salvador

The disease was first confirmed in Nepal in 2004, with only small outbreaks observed in the south of the country in subsequent years. Vietnam

Dengue: More than 325,600 cases and 122 deaths have been registered since the beginning of last year. Compared to the previous year, the number of cases has increased significantly. Regions in the south and centre of the country, as well as Ho Chi Minh City, are particularly affected. In 2021, approximately 68,270 cases were reported, and 21 people died.
