Vaqta Adult

An inactivated vaccine against viral hepatitis A intended for adults 18 years of age and older. The vaccine protects against infection with the hepatitis A virus, which is transmitted primarily through contaminated water, food, or poor hygiene. It is administered by intramuscular injection into the upper arm.

Vaccination Schedule

The vaccine is administered in 2 doses:
1st dose – on the selected date
2nd dose – 6 to 18 months later

Long-term protection lasts for at least 20 years; based on current knowledge, it is likely to last a lifetime.

When is it necessary to postpone vaccination?

You must not be acutely ill at the time of vaccination. On the day of vaccination, strenuous physical activity, visits to the sauna or tanning beds, and excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages are not recommended. Your doctor will determine the appropriate interval between this and other vaccinations.

Most commonly reported side effects

Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site; fatigue; headache; or a temporary increase in body temperature.

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding

Vaccination during pregnancy is recommended only if the expected benefits outweigh the potential risks. During breastfeeding, the vaccine may be administered after consultation with a doctor.
