IXCHIQ
A vaccine against Chikungunya disease intended to prevent infection with the Chikungunya virus in adults traveling to high-risk areas. It is a live attenuated vaccine that stimulates the production of protective antibodies against the Chikungunya virus. The vaccine is administered into the upper arm.
Indications and suitability for use depend on age, health status, and current safety recommendations. A doctor will determine whether vaccination is appropriate.
Vaccination Schedule
One dose of the vaccine is administered. Immunity develops within a few weeks after vaccination.
It is advisable to get vaccinated well in advance of your planned trip to a high-risk area.
When is it necessary to postpone vaccination?
You must not be acutely ill at the time of vaccination. Since this is a live vaccine, it is not suitable for certain individuals with significantly weakened immune systems. On the day of vaccination, strenuous physical activity, visiting a sauna, and excessive alcohol consumption are not recommended.
Most commonly reported side effects
Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site; fatigue; headaches; muscle and joint pain; fever; or temporary symptoms resembling a mild case of chikungunya.
Pregnancy, Breastfeeding
Since this is a live vaccine, vaccination during pregnancy is not recommended. A doctor will determine on a case-by-case basis whether vaccination is appropriate during breastfeeding.

All information provided here is for informational purposes only. The choice of vaccine or vaccination schedule is always made by a doctor following a personal consultation at a vaccination center.
