Tick-borne encephalitis vaccine for people aged 12 years and older. The vaccine is injected into the upper arm.

Vaccination scheme

The vaccine is administered in three doses at the following intervals: the first dose is administered on the selected date, the second dose is administered 1 to 3 months later (the second dose can be administered up to 14 days after the first dose) and the third dose is administered 9 to 12 months after the second dose.

There is also an accelerated vaccination schedule, where the vaccines are administered at intervals: the first dose on the selected date, the second dose 7 days later and the third dose 21 days after the first dose. The first booster dose is administered 12 to 18 months after the third dose.

The first re-vaccination is done 3 years after the third dose. Subsequent vaccinations are given every 5 years for persons aged 12 to 49 years, and every 3 years for persons over 49 years.

When is it necessary to postpone vaccination?

You must not be acutely ill at the time of vaccination, physical exertion, visiting the sauna, solarium, or large consumption of alcoholic beverages is not recommended on the day of application. The interval between the previous and next vaccination must be at least 2 weeks. You must not take antibiotics at the time of vaccination.

Most commonly reported side effects

Soreness, redness and swelling at the injection site, increased temperature, headache and muscle pain, sweating, chills.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding

The risks and benefits of vaccinating pregnant or breastfeeding women must be carefully weighed.
